Help for Hobbling Heel Pain

Plantar Fasciitis is a common foot condition characterized heel and arch pain. The pain is usually worse in the morning and may improve throughout the day to a dull ache. The Plantar Fascia is a plastic-like tissue that holds ones feet in their arch formation. The fascia can become inflamed, making sports, walking, even standing painful.

This condition is one of the most common orthopedic foot complaints. Plantar Fasciitis is often thought of as being caused by a heel spur but research has found that this is not the case. Plantar Fasciitis is seen in people with and without heel spurs.

Risk factors include:

  • Foot abnormalities (both flat feet and high arches)
  • Obesity
  • High Impact Sports
  • Standing/walking on hard surfaces (such as at work)
  • Sudden weight gain
  • Tight Achilles tendon
  • Tight calf muscles

Conservative treatment is almost always successful.

The Hall Chiropractic system of treatment includes:

  • Massage Therapy to improve muscle and tendon tone
  • CUSTOM Foot Orthotics (shoe inserts) to correct imbalances
  • Anti-inflammatory measures
  • Mobilization of affected bones of the foot, knee, pelvis
  • Stretching exercises

At Hall Chiropractic, our holistic approach to heel pain and other common complaints begins with a whole body assessment to help identify the true cause of certain pain syndromes and other problems. Our system of care includes joint mobilization, exercise, therapeutic massage, nutritional support and more.
